Electrical Muscle Stimulation (Electrotherapy)
Electrical Muscle Stimulation: Dr. Randy Horning provides electrical muscle stimulation to patients in Northwest Chicago and the surrounding areas. Electric muscle stimulation is a physical rehabilitation therapy modality that is used to stimulate muscle contractions using electrodes hooked up to an electric stimulation machine at our facility. These contractions help to control pain, manage inflammation and strengthen the muscle.
The electrodes are placed on the effected areas of the patient’s body, typically around the neck, back, shoulder, knee, ankle or wrist. The therapist will then adjust the controls of the machine until the patient feels a prickly sensation and is able to comfortably target the level of stim without burning, stinging or feeling a stabbing sensation. The stimulation will increase circulation and reduce swelling thereby reducing pain sensations.
Benefits of Electrotherapy
- Alleviate Pain
- Increase Range of Motion
- Decrease Atrophy
- Muscle Relaxation & Increased Bloodflow
- Re-education of Muscles
- Acceleration of Healing
- Reduction of Pain
- and much more!
This office is great! I was able to get in last minute and after two appointments my pain has lessened so much and I feel great! So happy I found this amazing office!
Great place if you care about your health.
Dr. Horning is the best. He’s always able to pinpoint what I’m in need of and correct it. He can set you up on regular visits or take care of you when you can get there.
Adjustments helped me recover from a bad car accident relatively quickly with little pain.
When I suffered from severe hip pain, Dr. Horning’s adjustments helped me to have less pain and walk more erectly than I had in some time. Thanks and blessings.
You guys are awesome! THANK YOU Dr. Horning, Diann, Beth, and the staff at Absolute Wellness!
